You’ve heard of a turkey in disguise, but have you seen a turkey in space? Join us to create this space turkey thanksgiving art project!
Turkeys may be showy, with their snood and big feathers, but they certainly don’t want to be the star of the show… at dinner! Our turkey went so far as to launch themselves out of this world to avoid becoming the holiday centerpiece.
Grab your crayons and watercolors, and get ready to help your turkey out! Whether you’re a homeschooler who can’t wait for art camp this year, or a teacher who wants to grab a step-by-step pdf to create this with your students, we’ve got you covered.

What you'll need:
- 9×12 white mixed-media or sulphite paper
- Crayons
- Watercolors
- Paintbrush and cup of water
Space Turkey Project Instructions
Using a pencil or sharpie, draw the turkey beginning with the head, snood, and helmet.
Draw the spacesuit, adding patches to show the struggle of a turkey putting on a suit!
Add the big turkey feathers, and a planet far below at the bottom of the page.
Grab crayons or oil pastels to add the colorful details.
Color in the snood and the spacesuit patches.
Add feather lines to the feathers, and shade in the helmet a light color.
If desired, use a white crayon to add stars or other outer space items to the sky.
Now it’s time for watercolors!
Paint the feathers contrasting colors to the crayons.
Use a dark color for the outer space sky, and paint your planet according to your drawn details.
Now sit back and relax, because your space turkey is SAFE!
