Stretch a Reindeer | Winter Art Project

We all look for a little magic during the holiday season, but this stretch a reindeer winter art project takes that magic a bit literally! We’ve discovered the magic that makes Santa’s reindeers have super speed – they’re part robot! This playful twist invites students to imagine the secret tech hiding inside each reindeer’s sleek winter coat.

Behind those handsome antlers and soft fur, students get to design the clever gadgets, buttons, and gizmos that power Santa’s midnight dash. Do they need turbo boosters, a fuel tank, or maybe an emergency waste-eject button? The starry sky’s the limit!

Grab those markers, papers, curious imaginations, and your best engineering elf energy, and let’s make a stretch a reindeer winter art project that’s ready to zoom through the holiday sky!

What you'll need:

  • 9×12 white sulphite paper
  • Scissors
  • Black Sharpie
  • Markers or colored pencils

Stretch a Reindeer Winter Art Project Instructions

First, prepare your paper.

Cut a piece of paper in half longways, so you have two long, skinny rectangles.

With the long side of the paper lined up with the edge of the table, fold it in half, bringing the right edge to meet on top of the left edge.

Then, take the flap on the top and fold it back towards the ridge edge to the right.

You should now be able to stretch and open and close your paper.

Now, follow the drawing guide to draw a reindeer along the folded up paper.

Open the paper and connect the front and back of your reindeer with a continuation of the back and stomach lines.

Next, it’s up to you to add your stretch a reindeer details that are covered up until it’s stretched!

Will your reindeer need computer buttons? Wires and cords? Is it secretly a robot reindeer?

Last, color your reindeer! You can use markers, colored pencils, or any other coloring supply you like that shows your special details.
